Pentangle & Magna Carta
A joint show with two of the UK’s most influential progressive folk bands: Jacqui McShee’s Pentangle and Magna Carta. Pentangle formed in 1967 and were one of the shining lights in the modernisation of British folk music. Disbanding in 1973, they released six hugely influential albums that remain classics to this day.
Thankfully, co-founder and original lead singer Jacqui McShee is continuing the band’s legacy, and this show will feature performances from their exciting and eclectic back catalogue. Magna Carta was founded in 1969 by guitarist and vocalis Chris Simpson.
Despite numerous personnel changes, Simpson has always remained at its helm, described by Mojo as ‘the English Paul Simon’. As a songwriter, poet, guitarist and vocalist, Simpson has been integral to the band’s iconic sound and constantly ensured he is accompanied by high quality musicians. The band have released no less than 30 albums, six of which have gone Gold. Don’t miss these two legendary bands in one incredible evening.
