Alternative Village Green Day

FREE

Performance-Parkour, circus skills, a band of ukuleles and a sports day like you’ve never experienced. A smorgasboard of quality arts events for the whole family.

Combining contemporary and urban dance with authentic French free running, the UPG Team will work with local young people on micro-choreographies, culminating in a performance of STEAM, in which a group of urban explorers discover, beneath canvas tarps, the skeletal remains of a machine that changed the world. Inspired by the classic movie genre, STEAM is a whistle stop tour through silent movies, the Wild West, James Bond, WW1 and the dark future of the inner city commuting..

STEAM 2 (c) Richard Baybutt-3

STEAM was Co-commissioned by South East Dance, Pavilion Dance South West and the Civic, Barnsley and supported by the Arts Council of England.
